Cars spend battery power when they are not running, which is why it may discharge at any given time. What will happen then is that there will not be enough electricity in the battery to allow the starter to start? Nor will the radio work, which will unconfigure. The information and entertainment system cannot start, and the car will not use.

Although it is not time to look for the causes of having run out of battery, it is advisable to check, especially in older cars, if we have left the lights on, flashing or if we have not started the car for a long time. These may be the most common causes, eliminating the obvious problem in the alternator, for which we could run out of battery.

To solve it, we must forget about boot systems that we have heard for some time. One of the simplest solutions is to ask for help from another driver who has cables with clamps. The correct way to use these is as follows:

  • Keep in mind that the batteries of the two cars must be of the same voltage. In most modern cars, electronics are very important, so the operation has to be done correctly to avoid breakdowns in this aspect. The clamps must be in good condition, with thick and well-preserved cables. Normally, the red clamps are the positive pole, and the black ones represent the negative pole.
  • Both cars must stop and the red clamp, which represents the positive pole, must be put on the positive terminal of the discharged car battery first. Then the positive pole of the car that will carry out the load must be connected. The negative clamp will then placed in the loaded car, and finally, the clamp of the negative pole of the car to be loaded will be connected. This process must do with both cars stopped and always carefully. Electricity is a dangerous thing, and you can create a circuit involuntarily and encounter a problem in the form of a spark.
  • Once the clamps placed, the loaded car must be started. Once it is running, the car to be loaded will start, which will borrow the energy generated by the alternator of the other car, and the starter motor will be activated. Once running, the alternator will start to work and can drive with the car. Of course, do not stop the car and go to a workshop to assess the condition of the battery and see if it is advisable to replace it with a new one. The disconnection of the cables must do in reverse to the connection. That is, first, the negative terminal of the recharged car, then the negative terminal of the car that helps. Then the positive clamp of the loaded car has to be disconnected and, finally, one of the assisted cars.
